Q. How do I go about getting a detailed landscape design and how much will it cost?
A. The best way to get a design for your home would be to call the Kane Landscapes office and set up a time when a landscape designer can come out to your home and go over your needs, desires and dreams for your landscape, there is no charge for this meeting. If you decide to have a design done for your home, design fees will normally run from $200 and up. This will include a to scale design of your new landscape, a plant list showing the name, size and quantity of plants recommended, and a plant picture idea page to help you visualize the types of plants recommended. One revision is also included. The full design fee will be deducted from the landscape installation charge if you decide to have Kane Landscapes install your landscaping.
Q. What type of projects is Kane Landscapes capable of installing?
A. Anything you or a landscape designer/architect can think of. We have the knowledge skill and equipment to design and install everything from stone walks and walls to planting specimen trees, extensive gardens with ponds and fountains.
Q. How long does it take to install my landscape?
A. This will depend on the complexity, weather conditions, and availability of the materials for your specific project. Kane Landscapes strives to complete projects in a timely manner. Once we start your project a crew will be at your home every business day until the project is completed (weather, availability, permits, access, and coordination with subcontractors can affect this).
Q. What is under warranty and for how long?
A. All newly planted trees and shrubs are guaranteed for one year from date of installation. All hardscapes - patios, walls and walks are guaranteed for five years. Flowers are guaranteed for two weeks and sod for only 48 hrs - this is because all of this item really needs to thrive is to be watered and not stepped on for the first few weeks (see contract specifications for exact details).
Q. How do I maintain my beautiful new landscape?
A. Have Kane Landscapes do it or just follow the instructions left with you during your completed landscape walk through.
Q. What services do you offer?
A. We offer everything your lawn and landscape will need to look it's best. From weekly maintenance to fertilizer and weed control programs, aeration and power seeding, insect control and liming, to mulching, shrub pruning, and seasonal flower changes.
Q. What is weekly lawn maintenance?
A. Each week we will visit you property and take care of any needed mowing, trimming, edging, blowing off of your walks, drives, porches and provide any other services that you have scheduled.
Q. How does rain affect our schedule?
A. The service schedule will shift back one day for each day that there is rain. Mondays work will be done on Tuesday, and Tuesdays work done on Wednesday and so on until the end of the week.
Q. Will you remove the clippings from my property?
A. Only upon request and at an additional charge. We believe in mulching the grass clippings. Mulching is a process of chopping the grass blades into fine peaces that filter back into the lawn virtually unnoticeable. This will not cause thatch in your lawn when you cut your turf on a regular basis.
Q. How often should I aerate my lawn?
A. Most lawns should be aerated once a year. Lawns that receive a lot of foot traffic (kids playing) or are on heavy clay may need to be aerated more often.
Q. When is the best time to seed my lawn?
A. Fall. The temperatures are becoming cooler, rain is usually more frequent and the period before the next hot-dry summer is at its longest.
